About Gulf Air

Gulf Air was founded on 24th March 1950, after Freddie Bosworth who was a British Pilot and an entrepreneur started an air taxi service to Dhahran and Doha from Bahrain. He realized that there was a need for expansion and started the Gulf Aviation Company Limited, which was initially a private company. In the year 1951, the British Overseas Airways Corporation took up a major share which is 22% in the Gulf Aviation. The governments of the Emirate of Bahrain, the state of Qatar, the emirate of Abu Dhabi and the Sultanate of Oman purchased the British Overseas Airways Company and thus, got the major share of Gulf Air. Gulf Air is the official carrier of these four states. The Gulf Air offers services to 41 destinations in 23 different countries across Asia, Africa and Europe. Gulf Air is headquartered at Muharraq and is now an independent airline. They believe in offering world class services to their passengers along with the ultimate comfort levels while they fly with Emirates. This just goes to prove how amazing the services offered by Gulf Air are. They believe that the passengers need a homely space when flying and make sure that they get such a space. This is what matters in the end, happy passengers who are willing to fly with Gulf Air on every trip they take!

Gulf Air and why they aren’t a part of any alliance

The unique thing about Gulf Air is that it is not a part of any alliance, not even the three major ones, namely Sky Alliance, OneWorld and SkyTeam. They followed the steps of Emirates in this way. The reason for this was revealed by the senior vice-president of the airline's commercial operations worldwide that the airline’s ability to react or act in the marketplace becomes hindered because a consensus will be required from all of the airline’s alliance partners. They offer world-class services and great infrastructural facilities independently. They provide better connections and facilities such as communication and what not, independently. They try their best to make travel seamless. This enables travellers to get the best benefits regarding services and assistance when flying with the esteemed airlines of Gulf Air.
